Sumatra Mandheling is grown between 4000 and 5,500 feets in the Aceh region of Sumatra. This region has been widely affected by conflict in the area as well as a large earthquake in 2013. This Aceh region is slowly rebuilding and is often referred to as Gayo because of the ethnicity of the coffee growers. Grown on volcanic loam soil, processing methods for these coffee beans are wet hulled and then sun-dried.
